breckenridge/denver, day six: last day in colorado

(551pm) last day finally. we left breckenridge at about 11 and checked out got breakfast and took the hour and a half drive back to denver. now warped tour is in denver today and i thought there was a slight possibility i'd be able to make it.... well we went to my cousins house from denver which i didnt think was right, he got married last night and there is like 15 of us in his townhouse which is not big in the first place (but very very nice). anyways we're back at the holiday inn in denver and leaving for ny tomorrow.

here is a general plan of my day tomorrow:

get up at 4, leave hotel at 5am
go to airport
leave for charlotte at 8am
4 hour layover in charlotte
plane from charlotte to albany should get in at 615pm
get off plane find/meet up with chris in airport then go to vermont to see devon.

will i be tried tuesday? yes. will it be all wroth this to see devon. yes.

breckenridge, day five: wedding

(109pm) woke up and decided i didn't want to go to breakfast with mom and a few other family members. so i slept a tad longer and went to into town and went to a pizza place with my dad for lunch. now we're back in the room and pretty much waiting to get ready for the wedding. laying around right now feels so good.

(1230am) wedding is over and all most of my family (drunk) is in my room. yeah... i just wanna relax and not listen to everyone talk crap about everyone else but whatever. the wedding itself was really nice, my cousin had me film it so we can send it back to ny so i my grandma can see it. which is nice. the wedding was on a balcony over looking the rockies. it was quite scenic. from there we walked to the recepction which was not far from where the wedding was. food, open bar, and drunken dancing from family. i guess i'll take it for what it is.

tomorrow i leave breckenridge and go back to denver for the day/night. even though warped is going to be in denver tomorrow i'm not going to go because im going to miss half of it because i got a long drive into denver and the last thing i need is to rush everyone who is at war with each other.

talk to you in denver tomorrow.

denver/breckenridge, day four: broken foot

(500pm) we left denver at like 10am and headed off to breckenridge which is like two hours north into the mountains. the ride was super scenic and we went under this tunnel that goes thought a mountain. we got to breckenridge at about noon and checked into our hotel which is beyond nice. our room is sooo nice and you can see the snowcapped mountains in out the windows. breckenridge reminds me a lot of lake placid so you can get an idea of what its like. we had lunch at this cool mexican place called 'mi casa' then from there we walked in the village which didnt have much... it was just like sucked no record store either. tonight we are supposed to go my cousins rehearsal dinner but my uncle (my cousins father) apparently just broke his foot... and we dont know how to get to the country club... its just kinda getting worse. dont get me wrong i'm having fun but my family is making it kinda lame. but when you bring like 15 of us out west i guess thats going to happen... especially with my moms family. anyways i got to get ready for the dinner... that is if we even make it.

(1200am) so we made it to dinner, my uncle broke his foot in two different spots and has huge cast and crutches but he's fine. anyways back to dinner, it was at a super nice golf course and they had an open bar so i took full advantage of that. once we got back to the room we decided we wanted to go out to a bar in downtown breckenridge which was like a wild wild west bar and it had a super drunk ill call 'village slut' girl there. after drinking there it brings us to now back in my room on this pull out bed which i get the feeling wont be very comfortable once i try to sleep.

tomorrow is the wedding and reason i'm here. hopefully it wont suck/cause family friction like everything for the most part has.

denver, day three: red rock

so i had no time to type what i did all day because well i was super busy all day.

first we went to red rock which i had heard of before and it lived up to the hype. not only was it so beautiful there like EVERY major musical act ever has played there, like the beatles. so i was on the same stage as the beatles. crazy eh?

after that we went into golden and went to the coors plant which was awesome. you go on the tour which they give you this 80's looking cell phone that you listen to as you walk along the tour. the coolest part is they give you 3 free beers! so needless to say i took full advantage of that and had a buzz on at 130pm. also i must bring it to the attention of all east coast people that sonics to exist... i with my own two eyes have seen one in golden. so yes they do exist.

after that we came back to the hotel and eventually i went to the mall and target with my dad and uncle. after we messed around there for awhile then came back to the hotel and while my mom and aunts were out for some bride party thing so the rest of us (uncles, dad me) went to outback steakhouse for dinner where my cousin met up with us and had some drinks etc etc with us. from there we went back across the street to the hotel and literarily just sat outside drinking and listened to my uncles tell drug stories. it was pretty.... interesting to say the least.

well tomorrow i'm off to breckenridge till sunday. talk you then unless where we stay dont have wifi. then ill type essays to pass the time at night.

denver, day two: boulder

(831 am) i slept good last night i really needed it, but of course my aunt called my room i kid you not 5 times while my parents went out for a walk. then she has the nerve to ask me 'are you awake' what the hell do you think you've called here 4 times. ugh so im rested but i didnt wake up on the best foot. i dont know what we're doing today before like 4, but i might explore more of where we are. there are like a ton of stores and malls around us and stuff. apparently is already like 85 outside, i'm going to die.

(1006pm) i'm waiting for travis to come to the hotel to say hi. anyhoot today was fun. i went to boulder which is like burlington, a hippie town with a ton stores and stuff. it was super cool though. i found a record store and of course went crazy and got some new music. oh yeah and i went to the huge mall across the street which has a skatepark in it. after boulder we went to my mom's friends' house in the middle of nowhere development which was cool, we had a cookout like thing. tomorrow is kinda free day. im going to to the coors plant which should be awesome.

thats it for today. i told you i'd not have as much seeing i'm now doing stuff.

denver, day one: airport security

i'm gonna try to update and keep like a journal of my trip to denver. today i had a ton of downtime while traveling so i got to post a lot as it was happening... and with a ton of pics!

got up at 4am which sucked because i went to bed at 1am so do the math i slept for 3 hours and even within those three hours i hardly slept. anyways we got to albany airport at like 6am for our 7am flight. airport security however kicked my ass. i put all of my stuff in the bin and i step though. the lady says to go back so i do. i go though a second time and she says 'go in there' there is a almost penalty box looking thing. so i stand in there and these two guys tell me to follow them to this roped off part. i get there and he guy explains to me that hes going to pat me down and run some hi-tech metal detector over me. it felt pretty awkward, but i never took off my belt with a huge metal buckle on it and it kept sending the alarm off along with my gold chains. so note to self and anyone, dont go to airport all blinged out. so i wait about an hour for the plane somewhat pissed off because i got frisked. anyways we got on the plane from albany to where i am right now typing this in philly on my layover. the plane took about 45 mins tops which made me feel pretty stupid after being on a train for like 5 hours to get there when i went to lewisburg. i'm here now in philly (huuuge airport) with my family by our gate which will take us to denver, about a 4 hour flight. it is 909am right now. next time i type ill be in denver.

(12:40 eastern time on plane over god knows where midwest.) so i lied i'm not in denver yet i am currently in the sky on the plane. i'm so bored that i decided to pull out the computer. the view out the window is crazy it makes you realize the world is a very small place. however this turbulence right now is making it super hard to type anything. a girl just walked past my row with a valencia hoodie, woo for rob hitt on the air planes. apparently they are playing a johnny depp movie right now that i dont think anyone has heard of. he dont look super creepy on it, well as super creepy. i think i got one more hour till denver right now, seeing its almost 1pm eastern time. alright i'm done i can't think of anything else to say right now. see you in denver.

(213pm mountain time 413 pm eastern time) i am finally in denver where you can see snow on the mountains still.. after the plane ride which seemed like an eternity and the most rough landing ever, but alas im here. denver airport is pretty cool its huge and its got these little subway like things you take to get your luggage, and the top of it supposed to look like snowcaps but i think it looks like a bunch of teepees. so now i'm at the car rental place across the street from the airport. i can see planes come and go. we've been waiting here for over an hour the line for the cars is really long. after this i think we are going to my cousins then to the hotel. ill write again once something happens. i'm just standing here.

(558pm mountain time) i'm in our hotel room at the holiday inn which is like an exotic island paradise thing. its weird the outside its like a indoor courtyard with a pool, a putting green, ping pong table, and pool table it has like fake palm trees all over and stuff. which is why its an exotic paradise. my whole family is pretty miserable right now for a variety of reasons and blah blah its not like you didnt see it coming... i think we are going out to dinner in a few minutes.

(912pm mountain time) just got back from dinner at this place hops or something which is next to the hotel. i'm sooo tired now, in reality for me its 1119pm now. so needless to say i'm going to sleep. ill report what i do tomorrow... prob with less pics though seeing i wont have my computer with me all day.

travels

leaving for denver in the middle of the night tonight. i'm going to update this about my going on's out there... holiday inn's do have wi-fi... or they better.

i think i have a layover in south carolina tomorrow, then straight to denver. but i'm not even sure. coming home is going to be rough. i think i got a layover in chicago then back into albany from there just go with chris to vermont to see devon williams.

im seriously traveling 3/4's of the lower 48 to see devon.

the highlight of denver right now might be seeing warped tour the day before i leave... its supposed to be like 90 out every day maybe i wont go if its that hot out. who knows.

well next time you hear from me i'll be in denver, like the copeland song 'i'm safer on an airplane'.

last stop: crappy town

i got the chance to see reggie with midtown and my chem (which he is now a member of.. how ironic) opening and a little 15 year old me just didn't get it at all. i didn't get the costumes, i didnt get what james was all about. but when i hit about 17 i heard reggie again and fell in love with the humor and music in general i finally 'got it'.

the title of reggie's latest (and more than likely last) album does have a kinda cheesy title but then again looking at full effects back catalog cheesy is just okay and appropriate (mood 4 luv anyone?)

with that said nothing is cheesy about this album at all. no more jokes no more techno songs (or songs about getting to the choppa, food, lochness mosnter, etc etc), but ironically enough james really has pushed himself on this album. the opener G (all of the songs are letters to make it like the subway system in nyc... where james lives now) sets the tone of the whole album: snyth heavy almost metal than pop punk. the thing i like the most about this album is the interludes it has. it makes the album flow nicely it makes it very dark and atmospheric. i think its a shame that vagrant waited almost 3 years to finally release this, i hope that dont scare james off from keeping reggie alive, another thing is it was rumored that this was supposed to be a double disc with the other classic sounding (goofy) reggie songs... i wonder if that will surface anytime soon...

all in all this album does pick up where the last album 'songs to get married to' left off in the sense that it had some heavier songs, but james' raw emotion on this is what sets crappy town apart from sntgmt. i give it 8.2/10. i think if you don't look past reggie's past this album is a post-hardcore-metal-snyth rock jem, and yes you should takes james seriously as a very talented musician and not some kinda joke. lets hope he finds time to tour during my chem's break.

red album

first and foremost this is not as good as pinkerton (but is any album?) or blue, but red is better than anything weezer has put out in this decade.

dare i say... i like it. yes i will this is a solid album. i think weezer is done trying to make radio hits (or just th song beverly hills, i'm still not over how bad that song is) and is just making good music for them selfs. which i cant blame them after hearing how awful make believe was. all in all the whole thing is one solid listen. at some points almost soothing and relaxing. i think its a step in the right direction for weezer and hopefully i can finally see them on tour!

final score-8/10
